Turbosquid is awesome. Being the largest online 3d marketplace for over ten years, it is the best place to buy/download and sell 3d models, textures, plugins, and more. With the advent of Checkmate, it only gets better. Checkmate is the industry’s first standard for 3d models. You can learn more about it on their website, http://www.turbosquid.com.
I have been selling on Turbosquid for over a year, and I have not made much money yet, but that is mainly due to the fact that I am mainly a game developer, not a modeler and that I do not have much modeling time. The royalty rate is pretty good, I think. For every model/texture/whatever you sell, you get 40% to start, but if you promise them only to sell models on Turbosquid alone, then you get 50% to start. With the affiliate program, you can earn up to 20% more. At the best, you’ll get 80%. Which is pretty good.
Turbosquid has a very nice user interface. It is easy to navigate the site and find a model you want by searching with search filters. You can sort models by file type, price, rating, artist, Checkmate or not, Game-Ready or not, what type of license, and more. And I happen to know that better search tools are coming soon.
All in all, it’s an invaluable tool for modelers who want to make money or anyone who wants to buy or download quality models or textures or whatever.
